JOB POST: Census 2020 Neighborhood Coordinators ($23 per hour)

The Brooklyn NAACP seeks Neighborhood Coordinators to advance our Count My Block campaign by:

  • Managing the various Census 100% Count activities and a team of outreach workers and volunteers who will provide information to community organizations (i.e. churches, neighborhood associations, etc.) about the importance of completing the 2020 Census, especially for communities of African descent;

  • Promote partnerships with various agencies, local businesses and community groups to communicate the need to increase the numbers of people who complete the Census, particularly in hard to count areas;

  • Drive the development and implementation of the Count My Block social media campaigns and coordinate integration of Census campaigns into Brooklyn NAACP social media platforms;

  • Supervise team providing “door to door” onsite Census support services to both individuals and organizations in need of assistance completing the census;

  • Perform administrative duties, maintain proper tracking and monitoring systems and prepare documentation and reports as required; and

  • Communicate project developments regularly with the Brooklyn NAACP Census 2020 Project Director. Submit monthly written reports.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; Associate or equivalent required;

  • Active involvement in community organizations that demonstrate a commitment to racial and social justice movements;

  • Knowledge and Community Connections in the designated HTC Neighborhood;

  • Documented campaign coordination experience required:

  • Familiarity with excel or geo-mapping programs and their applications;

  • Experience managing and supervising staff;

  • Superb project management, communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Well-organized and attentive to details; and

  • Ability to work independently and also collaboratively with others;

  • Has a positive, professional and inclusive attitude and

  • Honors and respects all people of various backgrounds and identities

  • Able to work independently and also collaboratively with others, maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
