Eric Garner: Five Years, Still No Justice

"I CAN'T BREATHE!"

Those were the final words of Eric Garner, an unarmed Black Father and Son, who was placed in an unauthorized chokehold by NYPD Officer, Daniel Pantaleo.

Officer Daniel Pantaleo has not been charged, and is still employed with the NYPD.  Yesterday, the United States Department of Justice announced that they will not seek federal charges.  The statute of limitations for a criminal case against him expires today.

The Brooklyn NAACP stands in solidarity with Eric Garner's family.  Together, we are calling on Mayor Bill de Blasio to terminate Officer Pantaleo from the NYPD effective immediately.  We will not stand silent as Black and Brown people are murdered unjustly by those who swore to protect and serve our communities.

Join us tonight as we rally against police brutality, and demand justice for the Garner family. https://www.facebook.com/events/908252872847710/?ti=as We will be joined by the Mother of Eric Garner, Ms. Gwen Carr.
