URGE CONGRESS TO PASS THE MINIMUM WAGE FAIRNESS ACT

Led by Senator Tom Harkin (IA) and Congressman George Miller (CA), the Minimum Wage Fairness Act (S. 2223 / H.R. 1010) would increase the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour over the next two years, in three steps of 95 cents each.  It would then adjust the minimum wage each year to keep pace with the rising cost of living.  Finally, the proposed bill would raise the minimum wage for tipped workers, who have been frozen at a meager $2.13 per hour for more than twenty years, to 70% of the minimum wage.

Congress will have one final opportunity to pass this legislation, which is vital for American workers and their families, as well as the economy, when it returns after the election in mid-November for the “lame duck” session.  We MUST ENCOURAGE CONGRESS TO ACT!
