December 20, 2014 -- Brooklyn, NY -- In response to today's tragic shooting of two NYPD police officers, Brooklyn NAACP President L. Joy Williams issued the following statement:

"Brooklyn NAACP mourns the loss of these brave officers who put their lives on the line for us everyday. We send our deepest prayers and condolences to the families of Officer Wenjian Liu, Officer Rafael Ramos and the entire New York City Police Department. Gun violence continues to plague our city and we remain committed to working with both members of the community and law enforcement to address it in a nonviolent, peacefully and productive way."
