Renae Bluitt, founder of Crush Media, is a dedicated PR & lifestyle marketing specialist who understands the power of brand devotion. Throughout her career, Renae’s professionalism and expertise have attracted an impressive array of employers including Burrell Communications, Lifetime Television and most recently, Edelman PR.
Renae has successfully executed PR and event programs for household brands such as ESSENCE, Pantene, Cover Girl, Kraft Foods, Coca-Cola and Citibank. While she gained valuable experience in the corporate and agency settings, Renae knew her professional story wouldn’t end there.
After several years of searching, Renae realized that the best opportunities are the ones we create for ourselves. Combining a successful PR career with her passion for beauty, Renae launched Crush Media in December 2008. With a focus on brands created by or serving Black women, she is more committed than ever to erasing the impersonal divide that often exists between a brand and its consumers. Her beauty client portfolio includes (but is not limited to): P&G’s My Black is Beautiful, Cover Girl Queen Collection, EDEN Bodyworks, Cantu Shea Butter, Oyin Handmade, Elasta QP, and The Brown Crayon Project.
Inspired by all of the successful women she’s met on her journey, Renae launched inhershoesblog.com in 2009. In its first two years, the blog gained an impressive following and was named “Best Business Blog of the Year” in the 2011 Black Weblog Awards. In 2015, Renae curated a list of “75 Black Women-Owned Brands To Support” that went viral with over 16k shares and was picked up for a television segment on Centric. Each year, the blog hosts an event titled “The Beauties & Brains Behind the Brands” celebrating the brightest in the business in partnership with ESSENCE Magazine. In an effort to shine light on the often overlooked #blackmanbrilliance in our community, Renae recently produced a soldout event titled “The Brothers Behind the Brands.”
As the one stop shop for women committed to being the captain of their own ship, In Her Shoes shines light on those leaving their mark on the world and paving the path for generations to come. So when she’s not busy shaping brands, she’s sharing – introducing In Her Shoes readers to other fly female entrepreneurs like herself.
