April Committee Updates

Check out what some of our committees are working on.

After completing a successful book giveaway at the beginning of the year, the education committee is working on a discussion forum on the 60th Anniversary of Brown vs. Board.

Come and be a part of this discussion and future activities.

This year is an election year in the state of New York and our civic engagement team will be working hard throughout the summer into the fall to register new voters and turn out the vote.

We need volunteers to help us turn up the vote, will you join us?

June is Gun Violence Awareness Month and our Branch will be partnering with other community organizations to host and participate in events this year. There is an increase in gun violence over the summer months and last year there were 25 shootings in the span of 48 hours in New York City.

Come with your ideas on how we can address gun violence in Brooklyn.

The health committee partnered with our religious affairs committee to host a clergy training on HIV/AIDS and continues to be a part of coalitions across the borough advocating for greater resources for public hospitals.

April is Autism Awareness Month and the committee has a community event on Saturday, April 26th at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum.
