JOIN THE BROOKLYN NAACP HEALTH COMMITTEE AT BROOKLYN SUBWAY STOPS TO EDUCATE OUR COMMUNITY ON HIV/AIDS ON WORLD AIDS DAY.
Brooklyn has had the highest percentages of new HIV/AIDS diagnosis and Blacks and Latinos represent 80% of new infections. Nearly 29,000 Brooklynites are living with HIV/AIDS and a large portion of new diagnosis are in the Brooklyn communities of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Williamsburg, Bushwick and East Flatbush.
In an effort to combat this disease, the Brooklyn NAACP Health Committee will be distributing condoms and educational materials in the subway stops of the neighborhoods effected. Our goal is to increase health literacy about HIV/AIDs while also helping to reduce the number of new cases.
